Pokljuka Gorge is a lesser known but exceptionally picturesque natural attraction near Bled and Gorje. It is an approximately 2-kilometre-long and up to 50-metre-deep gorge, carved into limestone by water after the end of the last Ice Age.
It is a true natural labyrinth of rock walls, bridges, caves and passages, offering visitors an unforgettable experience surrounded by silence and lush forest. Because of its mysterious beauty, the gorge is often described as the “little sister of Vintgar Gorge”, but it offers a quieter, more peaceful nature experience – without the crowds.
What can you see there?
Narrow rocky passages and overhanging walls covered with moss and ferns
The famous natural rock bridge, known as the Great Natural Bridge
The Ice Cave, where ice can remain even late into the summer
A well-maintained educational trail leading through the most interesting parts of the gorge
The possibility to connect with other hiking trails towards Pokljuka or Bled
A family-friendly excursion point
The trail is easy and suitable for families with children, although not suitable for strollers. It is a circular route approximately 4 kilometres long. Good footwear is recommended, as some sections can be slightly slippery or narrow.
How to get there?
You can reach Pokljuka Gorge by car, driving to Korita near Gorje, just a few kilometres from Bled, where there is a marked parking area. From there, a pleasant walk into nature awaits you, away from the tourist crowds.
Pokljuka Gorge is an ideal choice for anyone looking for a peaceful escape into nature, enjoying natural wonders, and exploring hidden corners of the Slovenian Alps.
